Sean R.'s rich and complex work is the result of a traditional/formal artistic education, together with his experience working in the Tri-State (NJ, PA and NYC) area music theater environment - and the surroundings he has encountered since moving to Florida. His bold images and the graphic techniques he employs - radiate vivid color and vitality over subtle texture that combines to provide a series of magnificent compositions that are powerful, yet stylish. Since ArtBasel Miami 2007, Sean has received hundreds of commissions, and his work can be found in private collections around the world.

 

His highly original technique employ acrylics, latex, oil based paint pens. He works on a variety of surfaces including canvas, cardboard and wood. For him, the medium is much more than the mere message - the medium is a catalyst that heightens and transforms the message into a new dimension. The interwoven textures of his paintings, achieved through layers of paint and texturizing, render an elaborate patterned aspect that - while not disguising the subject matter - create an almost abstract veneer, absorbing the viewer into the composition. He has developed a uniquely personal technique.
