The sturdy buildings of Varenna, Italy, have hugged the shore of Lake Como for centuries, yet they may never have looked lovelier than they did this day. A radiant sun touched the misty heights of the Alpine peaks with glory, illuminated the golds and creams of the ancient town, and danced on the sparkling mirror surface of the lake.

As I feverishly sketched and took snapshots of a vista I'll never again enjoy from exactly this vantage point, in just this light, I was struck as I often am by God's generosity, as He piles layer upon layer of beauty. From the play of light in the distant clouds, to the emerald hillside and brilliant checkerboard of the town, down to the lake that cools and refreshes me with mist from the ferry wake, every element of the scene compounds the beauty of "Reflections of Lake Como."

It was vital to me to capture the sense of spaciousness, the vastness of creation, that consumed me as I stood on the ferry deck that day. I'm pleased with the aerial perspective I've achieved in "Reflections of Lake Como." I believe it allows my audience to share the sense of awe I felt that day.
