Eight original etchings by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn are now available for the first time in nearly one hundred years - - the Millennium Impressions.  Rembrandt, deemed “The Master Etcher” by art historians, needs no introduction.  Rembrandt’s etched works of art are recognized as the most distinguished body of work ever created by any artist in this medium.

Impressions printed from Rembrandt’s copper etching plates during Rembrandt’s lifetime remain in existence today and are called “lifetime impressions”.  Lifetime impressions are very rare and cost far more than virtually everyone can afford to pay for fine art.  Lifetime impressions can be seen in various art museums around the world such as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Holland, and the British Museum of Art in London, England.  Impressions printed after Rembrandt’s death, including the Millennium Impressions, are called “posthumous impressions.”  Although earlier posthumous impressions exist of the etchings comprising the Millennium Impressions, which are generally referred to as “Basan” impressions or “Beaumont” impressions, these posthumous impressions also can be very expensive and in poor condition.
